black clothes and cool fall weather
my grandmother's wake
my grandmother's funeral
my tears, snot, and whatever makeup I had on all over my dad's suit coat
a white wine toast to my grandmother's life
a cemetery burial in the middle of beautiful fall leaves
a pink carnation placed on her casket
hundreds of people
hugs and laughter, tears and sobbing
my brother having three seizures
my brother-in-law having three seizures
piano and singing from the hymnal as a family
prayer
love & support
memories & pictures
more tears

Beautiful...
Thanking God with you that you will see her again.
Been thinkin' of you and sending prayers to heaven for you.
very moving. Sounds like a beautiful and emotional day to honor the life of a lovely woman.
What a day that must have been. This may be weird, but I always sort of liked the actual day of the funeral. Especially my grandfather's. Even though it's heartbreaking, it always made me feel good because for one day, everything stops, and the focus of every thought is the one who has passed away. It is a day all about them, and I love that. It seems like after the funeral things just go back to normal. Peoople go back to work and school and meetings and appointments. The world keeps turning. Life goes on. But there is that one day where the whole world focused on my Poppop, and that always comforted me for some reason.
I apologize if that didn't make sense. But these days coming up in your life were always the hardest for me. The "life goes on" days. Because while it is true that it goes on, it's never quite the same. And that's just hard. So I will keep you in my prayers!
Ahh. Sad, yet not. Right? I mean, completely sad that she has moved on, but not sad because she has so many who love her still, and she had a long life.
Still, it's sad to be left here with just her memory. :(
