I know it has taken me a while to get this one up. I've had a lot going on here. Here are the links to post I and post II in case you missed them.
In Summation:
So by now you know all about Ben's disabilities. He is 27 and his cognitive development is significantly delayed. He has behavior issues, and he will never be able to drive or live on his own. He is on eight different medications four times a day, and his ability to reason and think logically is nonexistent most of the time. However, he is able to carry on a conversation.
Part Three:
Ben loves to read. I mean LOVES! He reads internet articles, junior novels, maps, and the Bible.
Did you catch that last one? Yep, he loves to read the Bible. In fact, you could ask him a totally random fact from the Bible, and I can almost guarantee he would know the answer. You know that judge who is only mentioned once in the Bible, Ben will know his name. Oftentimes, Ben is able to tell you in which book and chapter a certain passage can be found. Amazing, no? He can't add four plus five in his head, but he can quote scripture, tell you details from the Word that no one picks up on, and tell you who was related to whom.
1 Corinthians 2:9
"However, as it is written: "No eye has seen, no ear has heard, no mind has conceived what God has prepared for those who love Him"

wow! That's amazing. I would not have guessed that.
Astounding! Seriously. I'm actually left here with a lot of thoughts swimming in my head...like, is he sort of like Rainman? Does he have a photographic memory? Does his memory work like that only things for which he immensely enjoys? If so, what an amazing thing that he has taken such a keen interest in the bible. The Lord truly does work in mysterious ways!
such touching posts! I enjoyed reading them!
That is really amazing! I agree with Arizona Mama-- the lord works in mysterious ways.
You two have the prettiest blue eyes. By the way. :)
1 Corinthians 1 -
26Brothers, think of what you were when you were called. Not many of you were wise by human standards; not many were influential; not many were of noble birth. 27But God chose the foolish things of the world to shame the wise; God chose the weak things of the world to shame the strong. 28He chose the lowly things of this world and the despised things—and the things that are not—to nullify the things that are, 29so that no one may boast before him. 30It is because of him that you are in Christ Jesus, who has become for us wisdom from God—that is, our righteousness, holiness and redemption. 31Therefore, as it is written: "Let him who boasts boast in the Lord."
I think we are all going to be really surprised someday when we see the way things really are! Thanks for sharing!
What an amazing brother you have!
